How to get there

Walk west from Zuma on the sand to reach Broad Beach, or use one of the two access gates onto the beach. They are located at Access gates are next to 31138 and 31340 Broad Beach Road.

The gate quad at 31340 leads down a flight of steps then onto a smooth paved path which lead to another set of steps up and over the rocks of the berm into the sands. The beach access point at 31340 Broad Beach Road is narrower, a double gate, then steps down into a tree shaded lane to the shore. Steps up and over the berm here also make the access more difficult, and at high tide the steps may lead down directly into water with no sand to walk on.

About Broad Beach

A narrow sandy beach just north of Zuma this popular get away is home to the rich and sometimes famous. Don't let that stop you from enjoying this piece of quiet sand. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, or at least should be leashed, but you may find people letting their dogs run here.

Because of the slightly hidden access paths the beach is quiet and a great place to relax. Park on the Broadbeach Road, there is plenty of spaces for parking.

There are no restaurants or food on the beach itself, but try Le Village Cafe at 30745  PCH in the Trancas Country Market which is a family owned and operated local spot. Don't miss out trying the Artichokes or the salmon, and follow with the traditional old family recipie Austrian strudel dessert.

Nearby Attractions

While most people visit the beach just for a day of sand, sun, surf and fun, there are actually many interesting attractions all within easy reach of the beach. So if you want to combine some activities in a day in the area, or simply want to allow some members of your group to do different things, then consider some of these nearby attractions.

Point Dume - At the end of the beach, visible as you look all the way to the left while facing the sea, Point Dume is a rocky promontory that juts out into the Pacific Ocean. The point, a long bluff, forms the northern end of the Santa Monica Bay. It is most interesting as a rock climbing location as the rocking mound forms a natural climbing wall with very moderate single pitch rock climbing routes that are perfect for the beginner or training, or simply for those simply wishing to try out natural rock climbing.
